More than 120 enthusiastic Adat Chaverim members turned out Saturday night, December 5, to celebrate the official launch of our capital campaign and to honor existing and future donors. Plano’s beautiful, newly built Oak Point Nature and Retreat Center provided the perfect setting for the festive event, which focused on “Investing in Our Dream” to build a permanent home for the synagogue. Guests schmoozed over champagne and savored an array of delectable cheeses and decadent desserts before the formal program, which included a moving video produced by Michelle and Terry Sigle spotlighting several early campaign donors.
In his remarks, President Steve Jacobs told attendees that dreams do come true – especially when we, as members, “will” it.
“Together, we have the potential to fill our future home with unforeseen joy and possibilities that even we cannot anticipate. Our hopes and dreams will flourish here, as an honor to our past, present and future, because we ‘will’ it,” he said. “Within each of us lies the ability to accomplish amazing things, but as a community, when we combine our strength, we create something greater than all of us.”

Good evening my Family, my Community of Friends,
It is so lovely to see all of you here tonight.
We are at an exciting moment in the history of Adat Chaverim. For many years we have been thinking about a new location, a new building for us, for our community. We thought about it, we had dreams, visions and hopes.
Theodor Herzl said: “If you will it, it is no dream!”
< 1860 –1904, Father of Zionism and Promoter of Jewish Immigration to Palestine>
I joined Adat Chaverim 13 years ago. That seems a long time ago. Since I joined, I have given my time and effort to Adat Chaverim and Adat Chaverim has rewarded me beyond my dreams.
I believe deep in my heart that the community we create between us and with the wider North TX community inspires and enriches our lives and gives our lives meaning.
“If you will it, it is no dream!”
Yes we “will” it, 2 years ago we got into gear and we did the first steps to shape our future.
There are still many steps to be taken but we are moving in the right direction. We are fundraising, we have hired an Architect, we are looking for a permanent location and we are all here together tonight.
We “will” it.
This dream started 18 years ago when Adat Chaverim was first founded and that has been with us continuously. From renting space to hiring a permanent Rabbi to opening up a religious school, the dream has been with us and now we will take one step further, all of us, all of us together.
We “will” it.
This as an obligation and an opportunity.
The obligation to continue our Jewish roots; we have survived many hardships in history but we are still here and we will continue to be here, here in North Texas in our own home.
We will see the next generations carry the dream further.
The opportunity to make a difference and to create our very own North Texas Jewish Community.
For us and for the next generations.
Dreams do come true – especially when we “will” it.
The future is open. And, together, we have the potential to fill our future home with unforeseen joy and possibilities that even we cannot anticipate. Our hopes and dreams will flourish here, as an honor to our past, present, and future, because we “will” it.
Welcome to a new era of our life.
May we go from strength to strength.
Within each of us, lays the ability to accomplish amazing things, but as a community when we combine our strength, we create something greater than all of us.
When we combine our visions with the ideas and the insight and the contributions of those around us and allow ourselves to be a part of a greater community, then the accomplishments we are able to achieve are endless.
My personal vision for our future home is to be a hub!
A hub of socializing, praying, studying, eating and most of all for enjoying each other.
We will feel safe and welcome in our new home.
We will enjoy it as a family, as a community.
We “will “it and together we can accomplish more than we ever thought possible.
I want to thank all of you who have contributed to get us to this point.
Thank you to all of our early donors. Thank you for your love to Adat Chaverim. You made the first steps possible.
I would also like to thank our two main committees Atideinu and Livnot, their leaders Howard Flushman and David Goldstein as well as all the committee members.
Before I introduce to you the video we are about to see I would like for all of you to raise your glass and toast with me to :
Adat Chaverim and our future,
our new building,
and most of all to you all here my Community of Friends.
Together with your support we “will” it.
Sit back and enjoy this wonderful video produced by Michele and Terry Sigle starring all of you.
